Ragi puttu ( finger millet ) is very healthy and tasty steamed cake for everyone. Also we can make idiyappams, idlies, dosa, laddoo etc with ragi, as it is highly rich in iron, fibre and calcium. Try making this puttu for your breakfast, you’ll like its taste.

Ragi/ finger millet flour - 1 cup
Fresh Grated coconut - ½ cup
Luke warm water - ¼ cup
Ripe nenthrapazham - 1 ( round sliced ) optional
Salt - a pinch

In a bowl, combine together ragi powder and salt . Sprinkle water little by little and mix ragi powder with your hands. (Be careful while adding water, if you add too much water, it will change into dough) To check the consistency make balls with a tight fist, and it should be powdered back when crumbled. Peel the skin of bananas and cut them into round slices. Here I used chiratta puttu maker ( shaped like a halved shell of coconut ) You can also use a normal puttu maker. Add some grated coconut in the bottom. Follow with puttu( ragi mix ) When its almost full, top it again with grated coconut and put few slices of bananas. Close and cook/ steam it for 5,6 minutes or until its done. Flip the puttu cup to a plate and serve hot with little sugar and with a cup of tea. Perfect for breakfast
