Madhura Cheeda
By: Anju Aravind

Ingredients:

Maida - 2 cups
Rava - 2 tsp
Powdered sugar - 1 cup
Vanaspati/Ghee- 1/2 cup
Milk - 1/2 cup
Salt - 1 pinch

Method:

Melt vanaspati or ghee and set aside to cool. Mix Maida, rava, salt and powdered sugar. To this add vanaspati/ghee and mix well. Now add milk and knead well to get a smooth dough.
Apply some ghee to the palms and also to a fork. Make small balls and with the help of your hand press to form a rectangular shape. Now press this against the side of the fork and slightly roll inwards to get a shell like shape..Repeat this for all the balls. Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry these shells.. Sprinkle some powdered sugar at the end... Madhura cheeda is ready.

Note: Vanaspati or ghee is used as a binding agent. Instead of sprinkling some powdered sugar at the end, you can also dip these shells after deep frying into sugar syrup.. We can replace Maida with wheat atta. If you are in a hurry, simply roll the dough like chapathi and cut into diamond shaped cubes and deep fry.. Bcos believe me the only thing that takes time in preparing this snack is to give it the shell shape
