Chicken pie


For pie filling

Chicken – 500g
Vegetable oil – 3 tbs
Finely chopped onion – 2 large
Finely chopped garlic – 3 pods
Chopped tomato – 1 medium
Boiled and grated potato – 1 medium
Pepper powder – ½ tsp
Garam masala – ½ tsp
Chilli powder – ¼ tsp
Coriander leaves – 1 tbs
Egg – 1
Salt as per taste

For pie covering

All purpose flour – 1 cup
Baking powder – 1 tsp
Unsalted butter – 1 tbs
Salt - 1 tsp
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Bread crumbs – 2 tsp
Boiled and mashed potato – 1
Coriander leaves – 1 tbs
Milk – 3-4 tbs


For pie filling

1.Pressure cook chicken with little pepper powder and salt until tender .(3-4 whistles)
2.De-bone and shred the chicken with your hands into small pieces.
3.Heat oil in a pan and saute onions until brown color.Add chopped garlic ,saute for few minutes.
4.Then add chopped tomato and cook for 2 mins.Add pepper powder ,chilli powder,garam masala along with coriander leaves and grated potato.Combine well and cook for few minutes.
5.Now add the shredded chicken pieces.Adjust the spices according to your taste.
6.Lightly beat the egg with ¼ tsp osf salt and pepper.Keep aside 4 tbs of this egg mix to brush on the top of the pie.Pour rest of the egg mix into the filling and do not stir for min.
7.Switch off the flame and mix well.

For pie covering

1.Combine flour,baking powder,butter,salt,chilli powder,bread crumbs,mashed potato ,coriander leaves with your hands.
2.Add 2-3 tbs of milk and prepare dough out of it.Then freeze the dough for 15 minutes.
3.Take half of the freezed dough and dust with maida.Roll out into a circle of the size of the baking tray.
4.Grease your tray and place the rolled out dough.Then fill inside with chicken and spread evenly.
5.Take the rest of the dough and roll out into circle and horizontally cut it into four pieces(This is optional,you can make any shapes to cover the pie).Now place each pieces over the filling and cover it completely.6.Brush with egg mix.7.Preheat the oven to 180 degree C.Bake for 25-30 mins.
